Search for Utopia

Most dictionaries refer to segments of land with ideal environments in all senses as Utopian samples.  Synonymous to heaven, the word utopia at first encounter brings to mind a place characterized by a state of absolute perfection.

However, a deeper dive into this rather ancient concept leaves one perplexed. The idea of Utopia is a complete paradox in itself. Societies falling under the utopian banner are an embodiment of equality in terms of anything and everything, such as justice, economy. and governance. The absolute prevalence of equality seems like an alien concept as mankind is not homogenous and every individual may host desires contradictory to another. One man's trash is another's treasure. A person may seek a feminist world and another may search for patriarchal lifestyle as an ultimate desire.

Another question that one is forced to think about after reading literary pieces like 'A Brave New World' by Aldous Huxeley and 'The Hunger Games' by Suzanne Collins that pivot around the concepts of utopia and dystopia is are utopia and dystopia just two different names of a same state. The worlds set up in the aforementioned novels show apparently utopian societies which when prodded thoroughly show all the signs of dystopia.

Hence, the question remains; what really is utopia.
